چکیده
Abstract Pascal famously argued that practical reasoning should lead people to try form within themselves a commitment religious practice and obedience, based upon belief in God. I propose take less ambitious argument, which call the Sensible Argument, use it present The Puzzle. argue there is huge puzzle here, about radical dissonance between beliefs practices of many purportedly religious. There are, will argue, good reasons doubt, concerning (clearly not all or indeed most) purported believers, whether they are at least their strong; religion seems greatly increase risks deception, duplicity, hypocrisy, as well self-deception inauthenticity. They show evidence that (a) belief in religious deities and secular institutions can serve as external forms of control that can compensate for manipulations that lower personal control and (b) religious conviction can also se...
